Refunds Of Some Early Tax Filers Delayed
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - If you wanted to be 'ahead of the game' and have already filed your tax return you may have to wait a week longer to get your refund.
The delay was caused when, in an effort to prevent fraud, the IRS installed new safeguards on their computers.
"This delay only affects some early filers," explained IRS Spokesperson Clay Sanford. "Taxpayers whose returns were accepted by the IRS on or after January 26 won't experience a delay and their tax returns will be processed under normal guidelines."
According to Sanford, even with the delay it's estimated that taxpayers will receive their refund in 10 to 21 days, if they chose direct deposit.
You can also check the status of your refund by going to the IRS website and clicking the "Where's My Refund" button.
