Refugees Living In Dallas Voice Support For Syrian Family En Route To Texas

NORTHEAST DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – There were big new developments today involving refugees wanting to come to the United States and Texas in particular.
United States Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Greg Abbott also weighed in. Cruz announced he will join Abbott Tuesday to announce their plan about refugees.
Both politicians said they want to bar refugees from entering the US from Iraq, Syria or any other country controlled by a terrorist organization.
The news comes as a family of Syrian refugees is en route to the Lone Star state.
The International Rescue Committee, which helps restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to refugees from war torn countries, asked CBS11 News for privacy.
But there are other people willing to voice their support not only for the Syrian refugee family on their way to Dallas, but for all Muslim refugees.
Security guard Mohammad Ashraf said the US government provided security for his family and others who now live in the same Northeast Dallas apartment complex he calls home.
According to Ashraf, he wasn't seen as a threat when he fled Afghanistan to Texas.
Ashraf said the Syrian family currently causing a stir was thoroughly vetted, just like his family. Thus, he said they should receive the same assistance he's received.
"It doesn't make sense at all. They are in a bad situation. That's the point of view you have to think about it. If you like peace and stability, please help them out," said Ashraf.
