Redskins Reportedly Met With RG3 'Couple Times'
NEW YORK (CBS SPORTS) - When the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft rolls around, everyone expects the Washington Redskins to draft Robert Griffin III. Based on our six mock drafts, it's really a formality. The Redskins apparently believe that too, as, according to Chick Hernandez of CSN Washington, they're sending Kyle Shanahan to meet with Griffin a "couple times each week" leading up to the draft, to begin getting him acclimated to the offense.
This might seem a bit shady at first, but it's not. There's nothing in the CBA rules to prevent the Redskins from meeting with their first draft pick. "There is no issue," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told Albert Breer of the NFL Network. "College-eligible players can be timed, tested and interviewed in their hometown or college town. And it can be done on more than one occasion. It is standard procedure. All clubs do it." It's just that you almost never know who the first pick will be unless you actually have the top-overall pick. In this case, it appears to be a simple formality of the Indianapolis Colts taking Andrew Luck first overall to get Griffin to Washington.
