Red Cross Now Heading To Possum Kingdom Fire
PALO PINTO COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - People who have lost their homes along Possum Kingdom Lake will soon be getting some help from the American Red Cross.
Thursday's Red Cross mission will be their first into the ongoing fires in Palo Pinto County and there's a very specific reason why.
"Possum Kingdom, we know a lot of people have secondary homes there and so if it's not their primary residence they really wouldn't need that much help from the Red Cross," explained Red Cross Spokeswoman Anita Foster.
The organization is sending teams to Palo Pinto County because they say the situation has gotten more serious.
Foster said, "The news that we were hearing in overnight hours that there could have been more losses of homes and we want to make sure that if those families are impacted and that is their primary residence that they do get help from the Red Cross.
The Red Cross already has a crew in Wise County, where 500 acres and five structures were lost to fires on Wednesday.
