Dallas Rape Victim Seeks Justice 1 Year Later

DALLAS (CBDSDFW.COM) - It has been more than a year since Ashley Green was brutally beaten, raped and left for dead. Though she has found peace she is still hoping justice will be served.

Her attacker has never been found. "It still bothers me that there are no leads and no one has been caught," Green said. "I want to be able to find my attacker. I have a strong feeling that he lives somewhere in this neighborhood."

In a new push for information, Green and more than a dozen of her friends walked the neighborhood where the attack took place, posting flyers and hoping that someone will come forward with clues.

Last June, Green and two of her friends were at a popular Dallas bar on North Henderson Avenue watching the Mavericks playoff basketball game. Her friends took a cab home at 2:00 a.m. and she walked to her car alone.

She never made it to her car.

Police describe her attack as a "blitz" attack. Green remembers little about the incident, but said that she had two flashes of memory. "The next time I woke up there was a man over me, and I was asking him, 'Why are you doing this to me?' And he punched me in the face and said, 'Shut up, bitch! Shut up!'" Green said.

Green woke up naked around 4:00 a.m. -- she was unrecognizable. Someone had beaten, raped and strangled her, and left her for dead. "I definitely think that whoever did this to me, they meant to kill me. They probably thought I was dead," Green said.

The identity of the attacker remains a mystery. Police have no leads in the case and no suspects have been identified. There is a $55,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Green hopes that will help coax someone to come forward. If you have information that can identify a suspect, call Dallas Police Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477.
