Rangers Sign Colby Lewis To Minor League Deal
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- After failing to pitch for the Rangers in 2013, right-hander Colby Lewis is set to give it another shot in Arlington.
Texas announced on Saturday that the team and Lewis have agreed to a 2014 minor league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.
Lewis, 34, spent all of last season on the disabled list, pitching seven rehab starts in an attempt to join the big league team. The veteran was 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA in seven starts between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock.
On Aug. 22, Lewis underwent season-ending right hip resurfacing surgery. He is currently rehabbing the hip in preparation for 2014.
Lewis is 32-29 in 80 starts since joining Texas as a free agent in January 2010. He last pitched in a major league game on July 18, 2012 at Oakland, in which he surrendered one run over five innings, earning a no-decision.
