Rangers Sign Beltre To Six-Year Deal
ARLINGTON (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers have signed third baseman Adrian Beltre to a six-year contract.
Terms of the deal were not released, but the Dallas Morning News reported previously that it could be worth as much as $96 million with a final year that can be voided if Beltre fails to reach certain plate-appearance numbers.
Beltre, 31, played 154 games for Boston last year after 12 seasons with the Dodgers and Mariners. He batted .321 for the Red Sox with 28 home runs, 102 RBI and a league-best 49 doubles.
The 31-year-old spent last season with the Boston Red Sox, hitting a robust .321 with 28 home runs, a league-best 49 doubles with 102 RBI in 154 games.
Beltre started his career with the Dodgers during the 1998 season and has compiled 278 homers and 1,008 RBI in 1,835 major league games. He belted 48 homers with 121 RBI and a .334 average in 2004 for the Dodgers, then spent the next five seasons with Seattle.
He has proven to be durable, playing at least 138 games in 10 of his 13 seasons.
