Rangers Righty Alexi Ogando Joins AL All-Stars

ARLINGTON (AP)  Texas Rangers right-hander Alexi Ogando was named to the AL All-Star team by Major League Baseball on Sunday as a replacement for New York Yankees left-hander C.C. Sabathia.

Sabathia had been the replacement for Tampa Bay's James Shields, but Sabathia and Shields both pitched on Sunday, and Ogando was next on the players' ballot.

Ogando, a converted reliever, is 9-3 with a 2.92 ERA in 17 starts for Texas this season and will be making his first All-Star appearance.

Ogando becomes the fifth Ranger who'll participate in Tuesday night's game in Phoenix, joining outfielder Josh Hamilton, third baseman Adrian Beltre, left-hander C.J. Wilson and designated hitter Michael Young.
