NEW YORK (CBS SPORTS) - The Texas Rangers have interest in outfielder B.J. Upton, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan.

If the team is unable to bring back Josh Hamilton, they could turn their focus to Upton. While they like the 27-year-old outfielder, they would prefer to play him in a corner instead of center field. Upton is regarded as a capable defensive player in center.

Upton hit .246/.298/.454 in 633 plate appearances with the Tampa Bay Rays this season. He clubbed 28 home runs and stole 31 bases. Upton has long tantalized with his potential, and could benefit from moving into a hitter's park.
