DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers are in the middle of a pennant chase this year, but they now have a reason to look ahead to next season.

Texas released their 2017 schedule to the public Wednesday.

They'll open the '17 season against the Cleveland Indians at home, in what could potentially be a rematch of the 2016 ALCS. Both Texas and Cleveland have the best records in the American League with less than three weeks left to play in the regular season.

This is the 26th time in 46 seasons that the Rangers have opened the season at home, and the seventh time in the last nine years.

The schedule also sees the Rangers return home for the Fourth of July holiday as they host the Red Sox to celebrate America's independence.

The New York Mets, led by former Mansfield Legacy star, Noah Syndergaard, come to Texas for two games in early June (6-7).

The other three teams the Rangers get to see at home in interleague play are the San Diego Padres (May 10-11), Philadelphia Phillies (May 16-18) and Miami Marlins (July 24-26).

The Rangers will once again finish the season at home as they have a seven-game homestand with the Astros and the A's to end the year.
