Rangers Release 2012 Schedule, Opening Day Matchup
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Rangers will open the 2012 regular season with the Chicago White Sox in Arlington on Friday, April 6. The complete 2012 schedule was announced this morning by Major League Baseball.
The opener is the first of a seven-game homestand that runs from April 6-12, 2012 and features three games with the White Sox and four with the Seattle Mariners.
Interleague play features home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, and Houston Astros.
Some of other interesting interleague matchups include: the Red Sox visiting the Cubs at Wrigley Field; the Giants against the Angels, a rematch of the 2002 World Series; the Braves visiting the Yankees, a rematch of the 1996 World Series; the Phillies visiting the Blue Jays, possibly seeing Roy Halladay pitch in his former home stadium for the second straight season; and Rays-Phillies, a rematch of the 2008 World Series. And, of course, we'll have all the traditional interleague rivalries like Yankees-Mets, Dodgers-Angels, Cubs-White Sox, Giants-A's.
American League home opponents feature three series with the Los Angeles of Anaheim and three-game set with the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. The club has a pair of 10-game homestands, June 22-July 1 with the Rockies, Tigers, and A's and August 20-29 with the Orioles, Twins, and Rays.
The Rangers open the road portion of the schedule in Minnesota on April 13, the first contest of a nine-game trip that also includes stops in Boston and Detroit.
