Rangers Recall Lindblom From Minors

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - The Texas Rangers recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Lindblom from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday for the third time this season.

The 26-year-old Lindblom will replace right-hander Kyle McClellan in Texas' bullpen. McClellan was designated for assignment after allowing runs in the last four of his seven appearances since the Rangers purchased his contract from Round Rock on June 9.

Lindblom started four games during his earlier recalls, with an 0-2 record and 5.40 ERA in 21 2-3 innings. His last start came on June 20 vs Oakland, when he took a no decision in five innings of work (8 H, 2 ER).

Manager Ron Washington says Lindblom's role would be in long relief. Prior to this season, each of Lindblom's 101 career appearances came in relief.

As a starter in 10 of his 11 games for Round Rock this season, Lindblom is 7-0 with a 1.99 ERA.

McClellan was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA in 9 1-3 relief innings for the Rangers.

With this move, the Rangers now have 39 players on the team's 40-man roster.
