Rangers Place Adduci On Concussion DL, Call Up Rua

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Rangers 1B/OF Jim Adduci has been placed on the 7-day concussion disabled list after suffering an injury on Thursday night against Houston.

The contract of Ryan Rua from Triple-A Round Rock has been purchased to replace Adduci on the active roster.

Adduci was injured Thursday night when he hit his head on the warning track and side wall while making a catch in foul territory. This is the second DL stint this season for Adduci, who was also sidelined from April 18-July 20 with a fractured left little finger. He is batting .173 with one homreun and 8 RBI in 42 games.

Rua, 24, has combined to hit .306 with 26 doubles, 3 triples, 18 home runs, and 74 RBI over 129 games with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock this season. He has seen action at at first, second, third, and in left field.

When Rua appears in a game, he will be the 59th player to appear for Texas this season, typing the MLB record with the 2002 Indians, 2002 Padres, and 2008 Padres.

Texas drafted Rua in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB First Year Player Draft. He becomes the 20th rookie on the active roster this season, a new club record.

With today's moves, the Rangers' major league roster remains at 40 players.
