CHICAGO (105.3 The Fan) - Texas opened the second half of the season with a shutout loss at the hands of the Chicago Cubs.

Kyle Hendricks continued his impressive season with six shutout innings and 3 strikeouts.

Martin Perez went for Texas and was strong through the first five innings until he ran into trouble in the sixth. 10 batters in all came to the plate and five of them scored.

Perez could have been out of the inning earlier but Prince Fielder made an errant throw over the head of Adrian Beltre, allowing the third run to score in the inning.

Texas only managed five hits in the ballgame, all of them singles.

The Rangers will turn to Yu Darvish Saturday afternoon when he returns to the mound for the first time since June 8.
