Rangers Harrison Undergoes Surgery; Expected Back In Spring
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Rangers starter Matt Harrison underwent Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery on Monday in Dallas and is expected to return for Spring Training next March.
According to the team, the surgery was performed by Dr. Greg Pearl in Dallas and "went fine".
After an All-Star campaign in 2012, Harrison started the team's opening day game. He would start only one additional game before undergoing two operations in nine days on a herniated disk in his lower back.
He was making his third rehab assignment in mid-August when he felt a "twinge" in his left elbow and was shut-down for the season.
Monday's surgery was on his right shoulder, according to the team. He had TOS surgery on his left side in 2009.
In January, the Rangers inked Harrison to a five-year extension worth $55 million that will keep the left-hander with the team through at least 2017.
