Rangers GM: "There Were No Sucker Punches" In Brawl With Blue Jays

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Jon Daniels reflected on the brawl with the Toronto Blue Jays on the Ben and Skin Show on 105.3 The Fan, Monday afternoon.
The Rangers GM didn't seem all that upset by his team's actions in Sunday's game. Daniels summed it up by equating it to two teams that aren't too fond of one another, wanting to win a baseball game.
"It's an emotionally charged game. Two teams that played a very close playoff series last year. They beat us. Quite frankly, Bautista beat us. He had a huge home run, but it's competition, it's emotions that go with it on the field among the players," said Daniels. "The way I look at it... Neither side hit a batter up high. There was no risk really of hurting anybody in either of the hit by pitches. Regardless of what happened to get there. The slide was aggressive and it was against the new rule, but it wasn't up spikes high. There were no sucker punches regardless of what was made of that...Two guys were basically looking at each other at the time."
Daniels comment about there not being any sucker punches is interesting. There were many rumblings of those words after the game regarding Odor's punching of Joey Bautista.
As it appears on the video, Bautista and Odor are both preparing to fight...Bautista lifts his arm and Odor hit him first.
While many have speculated about the amount of games the players will be suspended, Daniels said the club hasn't heard anything yet on the matter, but that he expects to hear something from the league office on Tuesday.
