Rangers Get Reliever Mike Adams From Padres
ARLINGTON (AP) – The Texas Rangers have added another reliever, acquiring right-hander Mike Adams from the San Diego Padres in a deal completed just before the non-waiver trading deadline.
AL West-leading Texas sent minor league pitchers Robbie Erlin and Joe Wieland to the Padres on Sunday.
Adams is 3-1 with a 1.13 ERA over 48 relief appearances with the Padres this season, with 49 strikeouts and nine walks.
The Rangers had made no secret their desire to get bullpen help.
On Saturday night, the Rangers got right-hander Koji Uehara and cash from Baltimore for right-hander Tommy Hunter an infielder Chris Davis.
