Rangers Fans On Emotional Roller Coaster This Week

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - With the chance to make history hanging on one pitch, Brittany Efros held her breath.  At the age of 10, she watched her first baseball game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.  She's been a fan ever since.

"Wanting this championship… this World Series more than anything in this world," she said.

But, Thursday night, with tear-stained cheeks, she watched the team's chance to clinch their victory in Game 6 slip away.  "It was emotional.  It was nerve-wracking. It was nail biting," she said.

Fans repeatedly saw their hope shattered, resuscitated, and dashed again.  "Our palms start sweating; we get nervous; our heart rate goes up; some people get headaches; some people get really angry," said Dr. Tom Van Hoose at UT Southwestern.

He suggests, if your anxiety starts to mount, step away, take a moment, and reframe your thinking -  to focus on the positive.  "We actually have a lot of control over how we think about and look at things," he said.  "This could be the Rangers' finest moment tonight."

At the Gaia Flow Yoga Studio, Chrystal Rae uses a few slows breaths to relax.  "Just take a deep inhale. We pause.  Exhale completely," she said.

Gently rolling your neck or shoulders can also relieve tension.  Some good advice to remember tonight, when the chance to make history could be hanging on one pitch, all over again.
