Rangers Fans Feel Snubbed By MLB Schedule

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - There were two major incidents building to a momentous post season rematch between the Rangers and Blue Jays.

The bat flip.

The big punch.

But there are two things dampening the spirits of Rangers fans.

A 3:38 p.m. game time on Thursday.

And an even earlier noon start on Friday.

"Yeah," said Rangers fan Chase McNabb. "I think we got shorted a little bit."

"I'm not a big fan," said Rangers-backer Ryan Alexander about the schedule. "It's definitely the 'You are not Boston' time slots."

"Evening games I think would do better," said bar manager Eric Iglesia.

Iglesia is one workers at Our Glass Sports Bar and Restaurant between 360 and the ballpark who's afraid their place may empty out prior to game time. It's one of the reasons people don't see banners welcoming Rangers hanging on businesses around the ballpark. They just can't count on early, weekday crowds.

"Hopefully it will be busy after the game," Iglesia said. "If it's a night game for sure will be busy before the game."

Fans feel so snubbed by the scheduling some are convinced Major League Baseball is trying to sway the vote for a new Rangers ballpark with a roof.

"You've got all these fans coming in here for the ALDS and maybe they realize how hot it is and they change their mind about what they want to vote for in the next month," said fan Patrick Cusack. "Maybe it's an incentive for them to vote yes."

There is an upside to being down low on MLB's list of preferred match ups. Disappointed fans, unable to make the game are unloading their tickets on dealers. There are tickets available from $25 up to premium seats at high prices.

"There are a few people coming in and this is an opportunity for them because they weren't going to be able to afford them," said Mayra Salcido of 601 Tickets. "So, you know, kind of power loss has been there gain."
