Rangers Executive Hired As Colorado AD

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Texas Rangers President of Business Operations Rick George resigned on Wednesday to become the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Colorado Boulder.

George joined the Rangers in October 2010 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to President, Business Operations in March. In his three years with the club, the team established record levels for sales and sponsorship revenue and surpassed the three million mark in home attendance for the first time in 2012.

"We wish Rick well as he pursues his passion of college athletics," said Rangers Chief Executive Officer Nolan Ryan. "We appreciate his many contributions the past few years, particularly his efforts to help us increase revenues and attendance to record levels. We have a deep, experienced team in place on the business operations side that is prepared to maintain our strong performance while we look for Rick's successor."

George has spent more than 30 years as a sports executive on the professional and collegiate level. Prior to joining the Rangers, he served as executive vice president and chief of operations for the PGA TOUR.

From 1987-91, George served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Football Operations at Colorado. He also held athletics administration positions at Vanderbilt and Illinois, where he was a four-year starter in football for the Illini.

"I am excited about the new opportunity that awaits me at the University of Colorado and the opportunity to be back in intercollegiate athletics," said George.
