Rangers Celebrate Valentine's Day In Surprise
SURPRISE, Ariz. (CBSDFW.COM) - Baseball spouses are extremely flexible and understanding. Their husbands travel for extended periods of time, whether it be a 10-day road trip during the season or a six-week sojourn for spring training. With an early start to 2013 spring training, Texas Rangers spouses are either celebrating Valentine's Day in Surprise, Arizona, or apart from their significant others.
Trust me when I say that the romantic dining options in Surprise are limited. It's more of a retiree demographic that lives here full-time. In turn, the restaurant offerings are of the heavily-salted, early-bird special variety -- not haute cuisine. I'm living on fruit and string cheese bought from Trader Joe's and the cobb salad (sans bacon) from Paradise Bakery.
That's about it.
Rangers manager Ron Washington does have a nice evening planned for his wife, Gerry. She is an outstanding cook, according to Wash, but she is getting treated on Thursday evening. Although he would not share his destination with us, he did hint that that he would be heading perhaps into Scottsdale or Phoenix for the special dinner.
