Rangers Ballpark To Undergo $4M In Renovations

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Texas Rangers have already began renovating their roster in preparation for 2014. Now, the Ballpark in Arlington will be getting some flashy upgrades as well.

The Rangers confirmed on Wednesday that the Arlington City Council has approved $4 million in renovations to improve the look and feel of the ballpark.

The funds will be used to improve the stadium seating, lighting, and escalators, as well as the left field Diamond Club. The Diamond Club is an area exclusive to season ticket holders which serves food and drinks and provides a view of the field.

The remodeling project should be completed by the March 31 season opener against Philadelphia.

Prior to last season, the club spent $12 million to upgrade the concessions area behind home plate and add a third row of seating.

The club also widened the dugouts and camera bays to provide more space for players and media members.
