Rangers Acquire Minor League Pitcher For Frasor

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Texas Rangers have traded reliever Jason Frasor to the Kansas City Royals for RHP Spencer Patton, the team announced on Wednesday.

Patton, 26, will be participating in the Triple-A All Star Game in Durham on Wednesday night. He has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.

Patton recorded 14 saves in 15 opportunities at Triple-A Omaha this season, striking out 60 in 46.1 innings pitched. He is 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA in 34 relief appearances.

Kansas City drafted Patton in the 24th round of the 2011 MLB Draft.

Frasor appeared in 38 games for the Rangers this season, third most on the club, going 1-1 with a 3.34 ERA (1.38 WHIP).  The right-hander has been with the club since 2013.

Texas will not place Patton on the 40-man roster, which now stands at 39. The team will make a roster move to fill out the 25-man roster before Friday's game in Toronto.
