Rain for Your Weekend, Ragweed Highest in 2 Years, and TCU vs. SMU Football Forecast
SATURDAY'S BIG GAME MIGHT SEE A LITTLE RAIN...
The forecast for the TCU vs. SMU game at SMU has some rain chances in the forecast. The best chance of rain will be during the morning into the early afternoon on Saturday, but there still could be some showers around for the start of the game at 6pm. There could be a few isolated thunderstorms, but mainly it would be just rain. I will be better able to refine the forecast as Saturday approaches, but the hope is the rain will move out in time to have a rain free game. It is going to be close.
RAGWEED VERY HIGH TODAY...
The Ragweed count for today is the highest it has been in two years. The count came in today at 604 putting Ragweed in the Very High category. The last time is was that high was in 2010. Rain in the forecast this weekend will probably help wash some of this away for a temporary break.
RAIN CHANCES FOR THE WEEKEND...
There is still a big difference on how much rain we are expected this weekend from our forecast models. Yesterday during CBS 11 News at 5 and 6, I highlighted the European Model and GFS Model; and showed the big difference in rainfall they were forecasting. Today the European continues to be the most aggressive with rain chances, but the GFS has increased its rain potential for us. Here is a look at the latest projected rainfall these two models are predicting for DFW.
There is still a pretty big difference, but what you can take from this is that it looks like there will be a decent chance of rain on Saturday. Whether or not we get a heavy soaking or just some light rain will depend on the evolution of the upper level pattern. The question is.... will the disturbance be over North Texas? or will it be over South Texas? That is what the models can not figure out so as a forecaster I am left to decide on the extent of the rain. I will say that the timeframe most likely for rain would be Saturday morning. Rain coverage looks like it will be rather high on Saturday especially in the morning, with coverage tapering off in the afternoon. There will also be rain chances on Friday and Sunday. Here is a break down of rain chances over the next few days.
