Rain (And Cooler Days) On The Way

Another hot and mostly dry day in store for north Texas. Storm chances are a mere 10% this afternoon as we again climb to highs in the upper 90's. Since last Thursday the "coolest" day has been an above-normal 97° (twice) and the hottest 100° (twice):

We are counting down the days to the last weekend of summer. Tired of the hot and dry weather? It gets better. We've got slightly lower temperatures and better rain chances showing up as we close the work week and slide in the long weekend:

There is a tropical low located just off shore the Texas coastline moving west:

A dome of high pressure over northern Georgia is helping drive this mass of Gulf moisture inland and into north Texas. Today and tomorrow it helps trigger very isolated T'storm chances:

Meanwhile a strong upper-level low to our north will drive a weak cold front into north Texas on Friday and Saturday. This should produce good coverage of much-needed rain, some of it heavy:

We keep a 20% rain chance in the forecast for Sunday and have it dry for Labor Day. Here is your extended forecast:
