CLEVELAND (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent.
Rosenhaus confirmed in a text message to The Associated Press that he is now representing Manziel, who was waived by Cleveland following two trouble-filled seasons.
Manziel faces legal consequences from a domestic incident in North Texas. Manziel was accused of hitting, kidnapping and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. Crowley said he violently grabbed her and struck her repeatedly last month at uptown Dallas' Hotel Za-Za before driving her back to her Fort Worth apartment.
The NFL is also investigating the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, who played for Texas A&M.
Rosenhaus may have a tough time finding a new team for Manziel until the QB gets his other issues resolved.
Manziel's former agent, Erik Burkhardt, cut ties with the 23-year-old following last season. Burkhardt issued a statement saying he and Manziel's family "have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order."
Manziel was a huge disappointment for the Browns, who selected him in the first round in 2014.
