Projecting The Cowboys' 2013 First Round Pick
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The season is over for the Dallas Cowboys. So what's left to talk about? How about a 2013 NFL Mock Draft - in December.
CBS' Rob Rang gave his first shot at projecting what might take place in next April's draft. Of particular interest is Rang's projection as to what the Dallas Cowboys might do.
Where is the team's greatest need?
Offensive line? The Cowboys need it. Outside of Tyron Smith, the Cowboys were inconsistent in protecting Romo and providing running lanes for backs.
Defensive line? Absolutely. Jay Ratliff was injured for the majority of the season and carries a hefty contract into 2013. And will Josh Brent be available?
So where then does Rang think the Cowboys should turn? Quarterback Mike Glennon out of NC State. Here's his explanation.
Mike Glennon, QB, North Carolina State: Tony Romo is not the Cowboys' biggest problem but after another "playoff" failure, owner Jerry Jones will have to begin looking seriously at other options. The 6-5, 232-pound Glennon offers a high upside and has enjoyed plenty of success already in his young career, throwing for 30-plus touchdowns in each of his two seasons as NC State's starter -- a plateau previous standout Wolfpack quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Philip Rivers never accomplished.
