Prize Heifer Smashes Through Fence, On The Loose In Mansfield

MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) - A prize longhorn is on the loose in Mansfield and officials are asking for the public's help in finding her.
The heifer, "Sand Dollar Honey Butter," is part of the Mansfield ISD's Future Farmers of America. She got loose as her handlers were unloading her from a trailer at the Ben Barber Agricultural Barn. She smashed through a fence, ran into a thicket and hasn't been seen since.
Kristi Chambliss with the district said she is less than a year old and worth $5,000.
"It was slated for a student who was a senior in high school" she said. "She could have been one of the top placing calves that could have won her scholarship money."
That student -- Kendall Gregg -- has spent days searching for Sand Dollar Honey Butter.
"I just keep hoping that every time I turn a corner she's right there. So far that hasn't happened. Hoping, praying that... it does soon," said Gregg.
She's working with the Mansfield Fire Department, which used its heat-seeking drone to search for the animal Wednesday to no avail.
Chambliss has asked anyone who may see the animal to call police immediately.
