Pre UFC 158 Interview With Johny Hendricks
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Johny Hendricks is still waiting for a shot at the UFC welterweight title, and there are many who believe that his place on tonight's UFC 158 pay per view card should actually be in the main event, opposite champion Georges St. Pierre.
Instead, that spot is going to Nick Diaz, while Hendricks faces Carlos Condit, who was the latest St. Pierre victim last November.
Hendricks has made no secret of the fact that he believes Diaz (who himself lost to Condit thirteen months ago in his last fight, before testing positive for marijuana and serving a year long suspension) got tonight's title shot by trash talking his way into it.
He also told me that he believes that Goerges St. Pierre is "ducking him".
Hendricks believes that he has been overlooked, and he's been told by UFC president Dana White that if he can get past Carlos Condit, the next shot at the welterweight title will be his.
Many fighters would tell you that they can only talk about the opponent that is in front of them, and not any potential reward that could come as a result of a victory. This week, Hendricks told me that he could do both.
