Police: Suspect Wanted For Attempted Kidnapping
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Irving police are searching for the man they say attacked and tried to kidnap a woman early Monday morning.
According to police, a woman was driving westbound on State Highway 183, near Valley View Lane, when a male driver pulled along side her and made some type of motions that she was having a car problem.
After signaling for the woman to pull to the side of the road the man pulled in behind her. The man reportedly said a tire was loose on the woman's vehicle and that he could fix the problem.
After talking with the man and looking at her vehicle the woman went with the suspect back to his Isuzu Rodeo to supposedly get a tire tool.
"When she did so he pushed her into the vehicle and jumped on top of her," explained Irving police Public Information Officer John Argumaniz. "They started struggling. As they were struggling he then pulled out a stun gun and attempted to use the stun gun on her."
The woman said at some point she was able to fight the man off, get out of the SUV and run into lanes of traffic to try and stop passing vehicles for help. As the woman screamed and flagged for help the suspect drove away.
"I think she was very lucky. She was able to fight him off really quickly and there was a way that she could get out [of his vehicle]," Argumaniz said. "She was able to crawl out of the opposite side of the vehicle before he was able to use that stun gun."
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic man who stood between 5'8" and 5'10". The man was around 25 years old and weighed about 150 pounds. At the time of the attack suspect had short black hair and was wearing wire-framed glasses. The man was driving a white Isuzu
Rodeo.
As far as any other similar attacks in Irving Argumaniz said, "It's the first case that we have been working on here, and again it could happen in any city, anywhere. It just so happens that they were traveling through our city at that particular time."
There were others traveling on 183 at the time of the attack and they are being interviewed. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
The incident happened around 3 a.m. and investigators are asking that anyone in the area at that time, who may have seen something contact Irving police at (972) 273-1010.
