Standoff In North Dallas Ends With Suspect In Custody

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A suspect was taken into custody without incident after a standoff with police and SWAT in the 10500 block of Pagewood Drive on Saturday.

Police said they responded to the residence at around 12:30 p.m. for a shots fired and domestic disturbance call between a father and son.

Neighbors told CBS11 they heard gunshots and talked to the suspect before he barricaded himself in the home.

"The guy in question said, 'My dad's going to the hospital. Don't worry about the gunshots. I just shot at the ground,'" said neighbor Matt Krehel. "It kinda seems like the whole DPD is here. Helicopters, SWAT team, snipers... it's a little unsettling."

Chris Calvary, a member of the homeowner's association, shared pictures and information with neighbors during the incident.

"I think this is a representation of someone going through a struggle. I don't think it matters what neighborhood it is," said Calvary. "It just happens to be our neighborhood right now."

According to police, there were no reported injuries.

"Through negotiations, we were able to convince him to come out. Once he did come out, he was resistant to being placed in custody," said DPD Assistant Chief Gary Tittle.

Tittle said there will be aggravated assault charges with a deadly weapon.
