DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) —Not only has the Dallas Police Department added more officers to patrol the area near Audelia Road, it's added more cameras — one in clear sight of the Sonic where a worker was shot.
Police said two suspects walked up to the Sonic in the 10700 block of Audelia Road Saturday night and one shot the worker, as she was sweeping up outside, while they attempted to rob the store.
The victim was rushed to the hospital. Officials say she's expected to survive.
Neighbors said they are very concerned about a rash of violent crime in the area.
Teresa Morgan has three teenage daughters who all work at fast food restaurants nearby. She said she's worried sick.
"We moved out here because I didn't want them to go to DISD [Dallas Independent School District], so they go to Lake Highlands, Richardson [school district]," Morgan said. "I thought it would be safer but it's not. We lived in apartments where there was a lot of killings and we just moved from there and — whoa. It's scary."
It's unclear whether the camera caught any part of the shooting on Saturday.
The two suspects remain at large.
