Police In Bedford Shoot & Kill Suspect After Suspicious Person Call

BEDFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Bedford shot and killed a suspect outside of a home early Tuesday morning.

According to Lt. Kirk Roberts with the Bedford Police Department, the incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Hurst Drive, just south of Airport Freeway near Brown Trail.

However, this all began shortly after 2:00 a.m. as a report about a suspicious person in the 1200 block of Airport Freeway, not too far from the location of the shooting. The suspect in that situation fled from the scene and was later found near the home, where police attempted to make contact with the individual.

During that encounter, police said that the suspect reached for a weapon and one officer fired.

Roberts confirmed that the suspect who was shot died at the scene. No police officers were injured during this incident. Police are currently withholding the names of the suspect and the officer involved in this shooting.
