DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas are investigating a shooting and aggravated robbery Tuesday morning. The incident happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of Dalview Avenue.
According to a police official at the scene, a woman arrived at a home to pick up a man, leaving her car running outside. While they were inside of the house, the two people heard another individual in the woman's car.
The man went outside and confronted that suspect, but the suspect pulled out a gun and fired shots. The victim was hit twice, once in the shoulder and again in the chest.
Family members identified the victim as Johnny Ray Warfield. His father said that several people at the home were just waking up when the shots rang out. "All I heard was him say 'Daddy! Daddy!' and I jumped and ran," recalled Franklin Warfield. "He said, 'Daddy, I got shot.' I said, 'Where about?' and then I saw a bullet hole up here in his chest."
Warfield was taken to nearby Baylor Medical Center at Dallas for surgery.
Meanwhile, the suspect fled from the scene in the woman's car. Police are still searching for that man, but a description has not yet been released. The car has been described as a light blue 1980s model Dodge Aries.
