Navarro County Carjacking Suspects Captured
CORSICANA (CBSDFW.COM) - Two suspects being sought after a violent carjacking in Corsicana were captured early Christmas morning, authorities said.
Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said a tip from a homeowner ended the hunt.
"The suspects were seen by a homeowner on NE 0190 in the area where the search was concentrated," Tanner said. "The suspects were attempting to get into the homeowners vehicle who detained them until deputies arrived."
The names of those arrested were not released Christmas morning nor was there word on the exact nature of the charge or charges they might face.
According to authorities, it all started around 5: 30 p.m. when two armed, male suspects stole a car from a man at a Corsicana car wash.
The theft was reported to police and officers spotted the vehicle a short time later. When police pursued the suspects the men drove the car into an open pasture and took off on foot.
At some point at least one of the suspects fired gunshots at a police officer, but missed.
The suspects were believed to have knocked on the door of one private residence. The individuals inside did not answer and immediately called police.
Late Tuesday night the Navarro County Sheriff's Office joined Corsicana police to search for the suspects. In addition to police, K-9 officers and a helicopter were used to find the wanted men.
