Police Look For Whataburger Robbery Suspects
Updated 6:14 p.m. 6/5
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Three suspects are on the loose following a robbery at a Whataburger restaurant in Fort Worth.
What makes the crime much more unusual is the men hit the same restaurant previously.
The three masked men entered the Whataburger at Interstate 35W and Seminary Drive around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.
"They use very vulgar language," Fort Worth Police Officer Cliff Miller said. "And just the fact they have these weapons, handguns and a rifle, these guys are meaning business."
Surveillance video from the restaurant on March 23rd shows the takeover tactics. The men, described as black males between the ages of 16 and 25 and wearing dark hoodies, manhandle the overnight employees at gunpoint, forcing them to their knees. There are only two employees and 3 gunmen so the workers are held at bay while the 3rd robber grabs the cash. seconds later they escaped out the back door.
"They're coming in very quickly," Miller said. "They're doing their business in there and getting out way before we respond. We actually responded to this call in four minutes or so. So they're in and out."
The men fired seven "warning shots" in multiple directions. Employees and customers were inside of the restaurant at the time, but none of them were injured. Nothing was taken from those witnesses, and police say they are lucky.
"They're very, very violent," Miller said. "Very aggressive. We don't want these guys out there any longer to where they escalate this behavior. We want to apprehend them as quick as possible."
The restaurant temporarily closed as police conduct their investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 817-469-8477 (TIPS)
