Police Search For Thieves Targeting Grocery Store Shoppers
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM)- Police in Arlington believe a group of thieves are targeting grocery store shoppers in their city.
Investigators are now asking for help identifying the three suspects.
According to police, in the last month alone there have been approximately 12 cases where victims have reported that a man and two women stole purses and wallets left in grocery carts.
Police say shortly after the thefts, stolen credit cards from the victim's are used at local gas stations and convenience stores. The thieves are also quickly purchasing gas gift cards and retail merchandise with the stolen cards.
The crimes have been reported at several Arlington grocery stores, with some locations repeatedly targeted
Most of the victim's were women over 50 years of age.
Police believe two suspects generally enter the store, while the third stays in the car. At one crime scene the suspects are believed to have been in a silver-colored Chevy Malibu.
