HURST (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Hurst briefly chased a suspect who is believed to have crashed into two buildings early Friday morning. The incident began shortly after 7:00 a.m. when authorities were called about the first crash, at an apartment home in the 600 block of Bellaire Drive.

A resident at the apartment complex told police that a driver fled from the scene after causing damage to the building.

Officers arrived to the area and spotted the suspect's vehicle after it struck another building, this time a home in the 600 block of Terry Road. The driver also allegedly knocked down a school crossing sign. No injuries were reported in any of the crashes.

Manuel Carmona and his father were inside of the home when the second crash happened. "It sounded like a gunshot, but like 20 times louder," said Carmona. "We were dead asleep and we heard that, and it shook the whole house and woke us all up."

Even after the second crash, the driver failed to stop for officers. Police chased him for a short distance. The suspect eventually came to a stop in the 700 block of Precinct Line Road. He was taken into custody and, according to officers, was intoxicated. A breath sample was obtained due to this being a "no refusal weekend," but the results of that test are still pending.

The driver has only been identified as a 35-year-old man from Arlington.

Residents at both of the crash scenes are now working to clean up the mess that was left behind.
