Garland Police End 6-Hour Standoff With Robbery Suspects, 3 Arrested

GARLAND (1080 KRLD/CBSDFW) - The Garland Police SWAT team has several people in custody following a 6-hour standoff after an overnight carjacking.
According to reports, a man called Garland PD about an aggravated robbery around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The man told officers that several suspects in a red Kia pulled out a gun and stole his 2007 Chevy Tahoe.
Garland Pd Leiutenant Pedro Barineau says they tracked the suspects to the Miller Glen Apartments at Glenbrook and West Miller Road.
When police arrived, a 16-year old suspect was found sitting in the parking lot inside the stolen Tahoe and was arrested.
During the investigation officers discovered that the Kia was also reported stolen out of Dallas, where the victim had been robbed at gunpoint by the suspects. Shotgun shells were found inside the Kia.
After several hours of attempted negotiation with the armed suspects, police launched tear gas into the area where they were hiding, forcing them out of the building.
Two male subjects (one adult and one juvenile) and two female subjects exited the apartment. They were all taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the apartment, two shotguns were found along with two BB guns.
Two 16 year old male juveniles and an 18-year-old Kyvontre Lachadd Elmore, all of Garland, are being charged with Aggravated Robbery. The females that were inside the barricaded apartment were not charged.
