Former Officer Arrested In Rockwall Murder

ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) - A former police officer and Hunt County Constable is under the watchful eye of the police at a local hospital, chained to the bed and charged with Murder and Attempted Murder.

Just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, Rockwall Police were called to Harbor Rockwall, a shopping and dining hot spot near Lake Ray Hubbard, on a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman had been shot in the parking lot.

Officers were told the two had been shot by the woman's ex-boyfriend during a shouting match outside a nearby movie theater at the complex.  The suspect then took off in a black Mini Cooper.

The suspect was identified as former Hunt County Constable Anthony Lewis.  Lewis also worked as a officer in several North Texas police departments, including Argyle, University Park, Coppell, and for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

Lewis was spotted shortly afterward speeding toward Hunt County.  He got into a high-speed chase on Interstate 30 with police officers which ultimately ended in Greenville with Lewis wrecking after he smashed his Mini into a State Patrol vehicle when his tires were blown out by stop sticks.

Lewis got out of the car and pointed a gun at officers, but was shot by police before he could fire his weapon.

He was transported to Parkland Hospital where he remains guarded by officers.

When released, Lewis will be transported to the Rockwall County Detention Facility.  He's already been charged with Murder and Attempted Murder and will be held on a $1.5 Million bail.

The woman was later identified as 33-year-old Jessica Aguilar. Her oldest son, Jaime Puente, says she and Lewis met when she was working as an apartment manager and he was providing security.

Puente says her mother and Lewis ended their relationship about 6 months ago, but Lewis was upset that Aguilar had begun dating again.

Aguilar also leaves behind 2 more daughters.

The man who was also shot has been identified as 40-year-old Francisco Delacruz.  He remains hospitalized.
