Judge Receives Added Security After Lawyer's Death

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The death of a high-profile attorney has at least one judge concerned about his safety. District Judge Eric Moye received added courthouse security Monday.

The Dallas judge had previously received patrols around his neighborhood as a precautionary.

The judge is currently presiding over a high-profile case. There was never an actual threat made against Moye, but the patrols were simply a courtesy after he expressed safety concerns, officials said. That extra protection has since ended.

Dallas attorney Ira Tobolowsky was found dead inside of his burning home along Kenshire Lane on Friday. Fire crews found the 68-year-old man in his garage. Investigators have not released the exact cause of the fire or Tobolowsky's death, but have called the incident "suspicious."

Tobolowsky was the plaintiff in a defamation suit being played out in Moye's court. The defendant in that case, Steven Aubrey, wasn't accused of any crime, but he was being sued over alleged harassment of the Dallas lawyer.

Aubrey is scheduled to appear in Judge Moye's courtroom Wednesday

Police have not officially called Tobolowsky's death a homicide case, and haven't identified any suspects either.
