Police: Man Robs Dallas Bank With A Machete
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas man successfully, if but for a short time, robbed a bank using a machete as his weapon.
Suspect Gregory Deshawn Shelby went into the Comerica Bank, in the 11000 block of Garland Road, Tuesday morning.
The 27-year-old reportedly walked straight to a teller, threw plastic bag on the counter and said, "I need $45,000 in the bag now!" The suspect then pulled a machete from a cardboard box under his arm.
After demanding, "That's enough. Give me the bag!" the suspect took the undisclosed amount of cash and left on foot.
Shelby allegedly dropped the machete as he was leaving.
Witnesses inside the bank during the robbery told police the suspect ran to a nearby apartment complex.
Shelby was captured in the 1000 block of Forest Grove Drive. Police say he still had the money with him.
Shelby has been charged with aggravated robbery.
