DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Dallas police arrested two men for aggravated robbery and are investigating whether they may be connected to recent Oak Lawn attacks, the department announced Sunday.

Dallas police announced officers arrested a pair of 18-year-olds, Deon Fridia and Donedwin Maxie. The two were charged with felony aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

Officers responded to a call about an aggravated robbery in a parking garage in the 2100 block of Medical District Drive around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, Geron said during a press conference Sunday afternoon. The victim said she had been assaulted and robbed at gunpoint, and the suspects took her wallet, keys and car, Geron said. She was treated at the scene and released.

Around 2:30 a.m. additional patrol officers found the two suspects in the stolen car driving along Cedar Springs Road in the Oak Lawn area. The officers eventually stopped the car at a convenience store in the 3700 block of Maple Avenue and arrested the two men.

Police recovered two guns from the suspects that had been reported stolen from Irving, Geron said.

Geron said it "appeared" as if the suspects were looking for another victim as they drove through the Oak Lawn area.

Oak Lawn bar owner Lee Daugherty, whose two employees are among the more than 12 recent assault victims, said the arrest is "a great sense of relief."

"The amount of frustration that the community has felt for several months now maybe gets eased just a little bit," he said.

However, Daugherty said it's not time to become complacent.

"The threats are not gone," he said. "They are still out on the streets. They are still looking. They are still targeting this community."

Dallas police anticipate conducting photo lineups to investigate whether these two suspects are connected to attacks in the area, so their photos are not yet being released to the public.

Geron said increased patrol in the area likely helped with the quick arrest Sunday morning. The two suspects are in Dallas County Jail.
