Police Investigating Shooting That Left Teenaged Boy Dead In South Dallas
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — The Dallas Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a teenage boy dead Friday.
Around 11:30 a.m. July 19, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Denley Drive in South Dallas regarding a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, they found 15-year-old Luis Carlos Guevera in a silver 2014 Ford Fiesta with gunshot wounds.
Guevera and a 16-year-old witness of the shooting were transported to a local hospital where Guevera was pronounced dead.
Police said three young men in a brown Dodge Caravan pulled up to the Ford Fiesta with two teens inside. That's when one suspect, who police say is 13-years-old, got out of the van and started shooting the car, hitting and killing Guevera.
After attempting to speed off, the Dodge Caravan driver crashed into a utility pole.
A witness told CBS 11 News that the victim's friend came to his home after the shooting, telling him to call 911.
The witness said he asked what happened, and the teen told him they were meeting to sell their iPod when a gun was pulled on them.
Police are collecting evidence from the scene and interviewing witnesses. They ask anyone with information to call the department.
