ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Arlington were busy investigating two deaths on Monday morning.

The first happened in the 5300 block of Wild West Drive. Authorities were performing a welfare check on a woman at her home on Sunday evening after family members became concerned. When officers arrived at the home, they knocked on the door and performed a perimeter check, and found a person inside who did not appear to be moving.

Police entered the home and discovered the woman dead with obvious signs of trauma to her body. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will now determine the official cause of death and confirm the woman's identity. Homicide investigators were called to the scene, and police later did indeed begin calling the case a murder.

According to authorities, there is no indication of forced entry, leading police to think the victim knew her assailant. The name of the victim has not been released, but she is believed to be in her 60s or 70s. Neighbors said that she was very sweet, like the grandmother of the street.

The second death happened at about 2:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Police were called to the No Frills Grill in the 4900 block of Little Road, close to Interstate-20, to find a man shot dead in the driver's seat of a vehicle, with the driver's window shattered. This case is also being investigated as a homicide. The name of this victim has also not been released. He is believed to be in his 20s or 30s.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that these two deaths are related, but initial investigations have led authorities to believe that the cases are totally separate. There is also no indication that the cases are related to the death of Leona Swafford last week. The search for that suspect continues as well in Arlington.
