Police Investigate Tarrant Co. Shooting/Home Invasion
WATAUGA (CBSDFW.COM) - Watauga police are investigating a shooting and what a homeowner describes as a home invasion robbery.
Everything happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 6200 block of Melinda Drive.
According to police, a male homeowner heard some type of commotion and went to he son's bedroom to investigate. In the room he discovered two intruders, one of them armed, holding his son and his son's girlfriend.
At some point the man went and got a rifle and opened fire on the armed intruder – hitting him in the arm. The suspect, who police say is 16 years old, was taken by air ambulance to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
The other suspect ran from the scene.
The homeowner, his son and the boy's girlfriend were not injured. Both of the teens told police they did not know the suspects.
According to police, some valuables are missing from the home.
Police are still investigating the incident.
