Police Investigate 2 Shootings At Dallas Motel

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas are investigating two separate shootings at one motel in south Oak Cliff. The incidents happened at an America's Best Value Inn, located in the 4100 block of Preferred Place, near the Southwest Center Mall. The first shooting took place just around 11:00 p.m. Monday night.

In that first shooting, a bullet grazed a man in the head. He was taken to the hospital and released about three hours later. Police said that the victim may have been an innocent bystander. But the second shooting also took place about three hours later, at about 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The motel's manager walked outside to find cars driving away and a man on the ground.

The second victim was also transported to the hospital, but later pronounced dead. Investigators found a gun in that victim's pocket.

The police investigation focused on a motel unit in the rear of the building. A motive is not known, and authorities have not said if the shootings are related. However, an officer did comment that at least one of the incidents is believed to be drug-related. No identities have been released.
