Police Investigate 2 Dallas Carjackings
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas are investigating two carjackings that took place on Friday morning.
The first incident happened at about 4:45 a.m. in the 8900 block of Senate Street. The victim has been identified as Charles Jackson. Authorities said that Jackson was shot with a handgun as his 2002 Ford Taurus was taken by a group of three suspects.
Jackson was taken to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas in serious condition. Because of his injuries, police have not yet been able to interview him about the crime.
The second carjacking happened at about 7:00 a.m. at the corner of Corinth Street and 11th Street. According to police officials, the victim was at a stop sign when he was approached by two black male suspects. The unnamed victim was forced out of his 1995 Toyota 4-Runner and hit with a pistol. When the victim started to run away, suspects fired shots -- striking the man in the buttocks -- and then took the unoccupied vehicle.
The victim of the second carjacking was also taken to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas in fair condition.
Law enforcement officials are still in the early stages of these investigations. It has not yet been determined if the carjackings are connected. The two crime scenes are located less than 10 miles apart from each other.
