Police Imposter Detains Man In Frisco
FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - Frisco police say a man impersonating a police officer stopped a resident who was on foot Wednesday night.
Police say the resident was walking near Hickory Street and North County in Frisco at about 10:30 Wednesday night. The impersonator was driving a white Chevy Tahoe and pulled up alongside the resident.
The impersonator got out of the Tahoe and detained the resident for a few minutes. The impersonator was wearing a uniform with a badge, but did not identify himself as a police officer.
After the resident was released, he went to the Frisco police department to tell them what had happened. Police determined the man in the uniform was not one of their officers and realized he was an imposter.
The resident told police the man was driving a white late-model Tahoe with a black wraparound brush guard. He also said there appeared to be a computer mounted on a stand in the middle of the vehicle.
Frisco police say you should always use caution if you are pulled over by an unmarked police vehicle. If you have doubts about whether the vehicle is authentic, they recommend you call 911 to verify it.
