Police Hunting Gunman In Dallas Wingstop Shooting
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police in Dallas are looking for a gunman who shot two people at a Wingstop restaurant late Tuesday night. The incident, which started as a robbery, happened just before midnight at the location in the 1500 block of South Buckner Boulevard.
Authorities believe that a nearby security guard interrupted the robbery, causing the gunman to open fire. Both the guard and the Wingstop night manager were shot. The security guard was pronounced dead at the scene. The employee was taken to Baylor Hospital and is expected to be okay.
The loss of the security guard hits close to home for many police officers in the area, who say that he was a friendly, familiar sight on their patrols. Many had come to know him well. "He seemed a very decent human being," said Lt. Charles Epperson with the Dallas Police Department, "a man you didn't mind talking to. He would always have your respect because he was a good man, very decent man."
Police are not releasing many specifics about the investigation, but said that they were able to recover a lot of evidence from the scene. They are also speaking to several witnesses. Police hope that this all leads to a quick arrest.
